What are the main uses of Handwriting Capture technology?
Ultrasonic capture technology can be used for any application where natural input is required.
Can I write on any paper?
Yes. Unlike some other competing technologies, Pegasus’ technology requires no special paper. You can write on any simple, readily available paper, and have both, hard copy and computer image of the written material.
Can the Electronic Pen capture languages other than English?
Yes. In fact, the technology is language independent. The writer can write in any language and can enter any image (including drawings). All written materials will be recorded.
When using the Electronic Pen how the written image is being transferred?
After the capture process completed, and the user selected to send the image (as an email, note etc.), the product converts the image to a well-known graphic file (such as BMP, GNP etc.)
What is the resolution of the capture?
This technology can resolve easily 100 DPI. For some more demanding applications, some better resolution can be deployed. Up to 200 DPI is reasonable using such technology.
Where can I get the products?
The products are available on this website. Also available through distribution channels worldwide.
How long this technology exists?
The principles of this technology were developed in the early 1940. It was only in the past few years that this technology was purified to the point that it can be used for such accurate and fast applications.
What is the principle of Pegasus Technologies Handwriting capture devices?
Pegasus Technologies developed it’s products using ultrasonic positioning technology. This technology utilizes ultrasonic transmission, from the tip of the pen, and time measurement of the duration since the pulse had left the pen until it reached the receiver.
How the units are powered?
Power is supplied to the units by using ordinary lithium batteries. The power endurance of the unit is estimated to be 6 months.
Can I find operation instructions for the PC Notes Taker

Which paper size does the product supports?
Pc Notes Taker supports paper size up to A4
After installing the Pc Notes Taker software, I receive a hardware detection dialog, indicating that the hardware was not found. What do I do?
Make sure the Pc Notes Taker hardware is connected properly to a USB or serial port, and click ‘Try again’
When I start sketching with the pen, no Note appears on screen
Make sure the Pc Notes Taker application is running.
Make sure the Base Unit is connected to the PC.
Make sure the Pen is within range from base unit.
Make sure you inserted the batteries into the Pen
What kind of refill is inside the pen? Can I replace it? Where can I get
A usual refill (67.2mm long X 2.33mm diameter) with nickel platted tube, you can replace the refill using the "refill remover" in the product package. You can buy this refill in any store selling stationary
How can I use the unit with any paper?
Detach the unit from the PAD and clip it on the top of paper in the Center (see drawing on the package front)
Do I need the pad to enable handwriting input
No, the pad is an accessory to allow you comfortability when working with memo pads on a table. You may detach the unit and clip it on any regular paper up to A4 size
Can the PC Notes Taker be operated when it is exposed to sunlight?
Yes
What are the Virtual Buttons?
There are 5 icons marked on the Base unit front panel. These icons serve as Virtual Buttons.
These virtual buttons allow you to perform basic functions without the use of a mouse or keyboard.
The virtual buttons can be programmed to perform many functions.

For how long can I use the batteries?
The batteries duration is 200 hours of continues operation. Taking into account avg. 1 hour writing per day. Batteries need to be replaced once every six (6) month.
Tip: When your Pen batteries are low, a dialog will popup telling you to replace them
Which operating system does PCNT support
Pc Notes Taker supports:
Serial units: Microsoft windows 98/ME/NT4(Service Pack 6)/2000/XP
USB units: Microsoft windows 98/ME/ 2000/XP
Can I use the PCNT application as handwriting Input method for other
You can use the PC Notes Taker as an input device to any OLE2 supported application. (Read User Manual for more information)
* In Outlook 2000 and up you can use the PCNT Toolbar to write emails with your own hand writing,
* In MS-Word you can add an Object, using the PCNT Toolbar and draw directly to your Word document.
* In any other OLE2 supported application, just insert a new PC Notes Taker Object.
When I start sketching with the pen, a black note appears.
This is a known issue, and can occur in some cases, if your display adaptor is configured to 256 colors.
We recommend using minimum of 16 bit colors in your display adapter configuration
How can I create 'Sticky Notes'?
Drag any of the notes from the 'Notes Manager'
Tip: Right click on a sticky note, to perform advanced actions
How can I Export a note?
You can export a note when created (Real Time).
In creation, use the "Export" button on the notes toolbar.
In the 'Notes Manager' use 'File->Export to Jpeg'
How can I change the default note color?
In the Pc Notes Taker software go to: Configuration>Preferences and choose any color you desire for a note. (You can choose random color)
How can I change the default Ink color and width?
In the Pc Notes Taker software go to: Configuration>Pen Styles and choose any color you desire for a note.
You can change the pen color and width while sketching, by using the Notes toolbar
With which eMail client can I use the PC Notes Taker?
Any MAPI supported eMail client, such as MS outlook, MS outlook express
To whom can I send a note via network?
A note can be sent to anyone on your LAN, which has the Pc Notes application installed and running.
To whom can I send a note via ICQ?
A note can be sent to anyone on your ICQ contact list, and who is in 'Online' Status
Can I set a reminder to a note?
Yes.
Right click on the note, in the note manager.
Select ‘Set Reminder’
Check ‘Enable reminder’
Choose date.
Choose time.
TIP: You can snooze a reminder. (Read User Manual for more information)
I can copy my sketches to clipboard and insert them to MS Word, however I cannot see the image. I can only see the frame where the sketch should be
In MS Word configuration, Make sure the "placeholders instead of graphics" option is not marked
Tools>Options>View>Picture placeholders
Can I write directly to MS-Word?
You can use the PC Notes Taker OLE2 object, and directly write into any OLE2 supported application (MS Word, Excel, Outlook etc)

Why can't I see the PC Notes Taker toolbar in Outlook?
In Outlook menu choose Tools-Options
Choose the 'Other' tab
Choose 'Advanced Options"
Press the 'COM Add-Ins button'
Make sure that the "PC Notes Taker' is checked
Press 'OK' to go back to Outlook.
When using the PCNT mail in Outlook XP, I get security messages. Can I remove them?
Outlook XP uses security feature, when an external application is connecting it.
These messages can not be removed
When trying to send a Note via network, The recipient PC name is shown, but an error occurs when sending the Note.
Make sure that the PC name has no spaces, if it is more than a one word name.

What is Mobile NoteTaker
The Mobile NoteTaker is a unique standalone tracking device that captures user-handwritten notes and sketches.
These notes can be taken on any paper size up to A4 and can be later uploaded to a PC and edited on-screen.
They can then be stored for future reference, transferred by email or local network and inserted into other documents.

How does the technology work
The pen is transmitting its tip location in real-time to the receiver located in the base unit. the tip location is drawn on the base unit LCD, and saved into memory. After loading the saved notes to the PC, the PC software application translates the tip XY location to digital format that enable you to view your handwriting on the screen
Which paper size does the product support?
Mobile NoteTaker supports paper size up to A4
How many pages can I store in Memory?
Mobile NoteTaker can store up to 50 FULL A4 pages
What kind of refill is inside the pen? Can I replace it? Where can I get it?

What type of batteries do I use for the base unit?
You should use 2 AAA batteries (1.5 Volt each) for the base unit, and 3 SR41 batteries for the electronic pen.

Base unit batteries can last about 3 months.
Tip: When your Pen/Base batteries are low, an icon will be shown on the base unit LCD
Which Operating System does the Mobile NoteTaker support?
The product supports the following Operating Systems:
Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP

What are the keypad buttons?
The keypad buttons allow you to turn the unit On and Off
and also to navigate in all menus, options and notes on your base unit.

What are the Virtual Buttons?
There are 5 icons marked on the Base unit front panel. These icons function as Virtual Buttons. These virtual buttons allow you to perform all functions while you are using the unit in Mobile Mode.
These same virtual buttons will also perform many more actions while you connect the base unit to your PC.

When I start sketching with the pen, while in Mobile Mode no Note appears on screen
Make sure your unit is in ‘Auto Capture' mode
(Use the ‘Settings' menu)
Will I lose my notes on memory while replacing batteries?
No. Your notes are safely stores into the flash memory.
The only thing you have to do after replacing the batteries,
is to setup your clock on the base unit (Or Connect it to the PC and use the ‘Synchronize Clock' feature)

How do I automatically upload my Notes from the

What is the Paper Holder feature?
Paper holder notes can help you in many ways.
One common way is if you need to read your note and rewrite
it in a text editor.
A paper holder note will always be on top, and its transparency
can be adjusted
To use this feature, select a Note in the ‘Note Manager’,
right click it and select ‘Show as Paper Holder’
